Reporting to the Customer Services Media Manager, the Senior Technical Illustrator will plan and perform detailed and unique illustrations and art work assignments for presentation of complex simulator parts, systems, and assemblies (using computer graphics programs) in technical publications such as manuals, catalogs, brochures and web deliverables. The main tasks are:

Develop illustrations in flat plan, isometric, or cutaway views using various computer graphics programs.

Interpret various complex forms of documentation, manipulate data, and convert into three-dimensional definition and review completed artwork and illustrations for accuracy and consistency.

Develop procedures and requirements for creating and administering computer graphic art.

Develop formats and procedures to merge computer graphic art to an electronic publishing system.

Conduct troubleshooting to solve various illustrating, template and tool issues pertaining to various software.

Generate animation files for inclusion in upcoming customer publication media

Ensure all electronic art files are organized, stored, and backed-up in required formats on the Technical Publications server.

Assist in the creation/maintenance of departmental standards, making recommendations for improving Technical Publication processes and software usage.

Assist with reviews of document being worked in-house or by outside vendors as required.

Assist in the design, customization and implementation of authoring, coordination and display tools




College Degree in a related field and three (3) years of relevant experience.

Experience interpreting engineering drawings and reports.

Knowledge of Technical Publications process.

Knowledge of various computer graphics programs, including animation programs.

Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, FrameMaker or equivalent.

Very good oral and written communication skills.

Very good organizational skills.

Very good knowledge of written and spoken English and knowledge of French.
