Purpose of the job

The Vehicle Software Quality Assurance (VSwQA) Engineer drives Supplier Sw Quality Assurance for projects along the value chain starting with the Bid phase to the end of contractual project deliverables. This role contributes to the Product Family and Project Quality Assurance and acts as an active interface between Supplier Quality Assurance, System Engineer and the supplier. A key part of the role is as the acceptance authority of the software on behalf of the project in support of VSwQA team leader. That is the critical evaluation of the evidence provided by the supplier and deciding if it is fit for embodiment in the train. The VSwQA Engineer is part of the engineering change process and signs-off modifications. In support of the VSwQA team leader the VSwQA Engineer provides reports that contribute to design assurance and acceptance of the train into service. The VSwQA Engineer is subordinate to the VSwQA Team Lead, however, the role requires the positon holder to operate semi-automonously and make key project effecting decisions in terms of software deployment and acceptance.

The VSwQA functional scope is to monitor the Sw development of internal and external suppliers according the BT VSwQA process GRP 20927, following the railway standards.
He/She supports, as an expert, relevant Supplier Development and Supplier Support initiatives
Key responsibilities

1. Execution of the Vehicle SwQA Process (GRP 20927) for the assigned projects on a basis of doc #34 (Vehicle SwQA-plan) in close cooperation with the Project QA Manager (responsible for doc #24) and the Buyer, including close-out of action items. 70 %
2. Acceptance of Software on behalf of the project. Contribution to the change control process. Project Software acceptance reports 10%
3. Support the Project QA Manager and Vehicle SwQA Team Lead (responsible for doc #24) on a monthly base with the process conformity tracking (SwQA status list) 5 %
4. Support the Vehicle SwQA Team Lead with the technical progress tracking (Train SW Project Report) 5 %
5. Support the Project Configuration Manager in tracking status of supplier software 5 %
6. Support the System Engineers by the definition of Software Quality requirements in the TRD/SRD/PRD (Technical/System Requirements Definition 5 %

C. Job Requirements

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Education
• Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or appropriate professional experience in SWQuality
Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
Typically 2 – 5 years experience in a SWQuality.
• Practical experience in supplier audits
• Siginificant experience in software engineering
• Experience in BT’s Integrated Supplier Assessment Framework processes
• Experience in Quality Planning
• Experience in problem solving and other quality methods and tools
• Utilisation of tools like MSOffice, Sharepoints, Project Tracking Databases
• Knowledge of SwQA standards EN50128 / EN50657 / ISO90003 / IEEE1558
• Knowledge of CMMI is a plus
