Role:

The Professional Corporate Buyer, Projects and Operations has a key role in the companies division in order to drives and executes purchasing activities with selected suppliers in cross-functional projects, and fulfills purchasing commitments in our internal gate process while striving for optimal QDCF (Quality Delivery Cost Features). The Professional Corporate Buyer, Projects and Operations continuously challenges suppliers in terms of QDCF performance for parts in serial production.


Responsibilities:
 

  • Manage project-related supplier relations in cross-functional teams for specific customer adaptations
  • Ensure supplier deliverables to fulfill APQP activities handled by the SQD team
  • Negotiate and track changes between contract and actual project needs, as well as product modification requests during the project phase, while ensuring alignment with cost objectives
  • Ensure that suppliers are ready for production, including all needed system updates regarding purchasing data
  • Implement raw material updates based on contracts/negotiations made by the Sourcing buyer during the project phase
  • Manage requests from the Bid department regarding price information to be able to comply with bid requests
  • Manage all purchase orders (tooling, prototypes, PPAP notifications, and blanket/contract orders)
  • Manage purchasing activities for unique customer adaptation parts and customer-imposed parts, where the buyer has to secure local content and comply with regulation including BAA (Buy America Act), DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise), WBE (Women’s Business Enterprise), and MBE (Minority Business Enterprise)
  • Plan and drive purchasing-related SIPD (Supplier Involvement in Product Development) activities after production supplier selection
  • Contribute to the development of sourcing strategies by giving input to the Sourcing buyer on supplier performance towards local requirements after selection of production supplier
  • Drive negotiations in order to generate extra cost savings
  • Perform purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics and financial flows to suppliers, and manage risk mitigation and crisis activities (e.g. logistics/quality escalation process)
  • Support supply chain optimization initiatives (e.g. cost workshops, low performance supplier activities, etc.)
  • Following the decision from the Sourcing buyer, negotiate and ensure signature of agreements for non-strategic cases
  • Follow up on contracts and agreements with suppliers and ensure implementation
  • Propose re-sourcing activities if needed; drive activities related to switches in suppliers and ensure the sourcing part is handed over to the Sourcing buyer
  • Contribute to BRM (Business Review Meeting) preparations by providing accurate and updated supplier performance scorecards to the Sourcing buyer
  • Manage the overall supplier relationship with unique customer adaptation or customer-imposed suppliers
  • Manage collection of supplier data needed for tooling inventory including repair and replacement, and monitor supplier-owned tooling
  • Ensure collaboration with other buyer roles within the respective segments

Compétences

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other relevant field
  • 6 years of experience as a buyer
  • SCMA member, an asset

  • Sound knowledge of technical specifications and quality requirements

  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing needs and issues
  • Proficiency with the Office suite
  • Ability to travel as needed
