We are currently looking to recruit a Signalling System Engineer for our site in Derby

YOUR ROLE

As a System Engineer for Automatic Train Protection (ATP) System you will be responsible for the conceptual design and implementation of train control and protection systems, as well as their integration into Bombardier’s different vehicle types, from locomotives to passenger trains. One of your main missions will be to integrate and upgrade of European Train Control System (ETCS) in our Rolling Stock including the integration of the specific Train Protection systems, when applicable (e.g CBTC, TPWS, AWS). You will have a transversal role in an international team, collaborating with internal and external suppliers and customers all over Europe. Therefore, we are looking for a solution oriented person with good communication and leadership skills.

Your Tasks

- Define or review the Concept, Functional Requirements, Software Requirements and Test Specification;

- Support technically the Procurement department in the design and definition of the ATP systems supplied by third parties (internal and external);

- Give the necessary input for System Schematics and Bill of Material for all the ATP subsystems;

- Define and develop the appropriate technical solutions to integrate the ATP system fulfilling the international requirements in force (UNISIG) and the specific customer requirements (public and private operators);

- Design the electrical, mechanical, SW and HW interfaces between ATP system and vehicle.

- Provide input to the safety, reliability and maintenance requirements;

- Support and when necessary participate in the ATP-vehicle integration tests in field and the country specific authorization processes

Qualifications

- Languages: Proficient level of English is required

- University or College Degree in Electrical; Mechanical or Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or Computer science is highly desirable

- Rail industry background is mandatory

- Experience in the development and integration of control systems in railway industry is considered an asset

- Design and integration of on board Automatic Train Protection systems is also highly desirable

- Knowledge of ERTMS/ETCS highly preferred

- Team player, autonomous and solution-oriented

- Good communication and technical writing skills with ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment.
