Description

Based in Kingston, Ontario, you will be responsible for organizing and overseeing all Continuous Improvement / Lean (CI/LEAN) initiatives throughout Operations. The focus is in reducing waste and redundancy in all that we do.

You will be involved in the application of standardized processes improvement techniques across all projects such as, but not limited to; Business Planning and Lean Manufacturing, the roll out of new technologies and processes aimed at reducing waste and industry best practices.

All your activities will be focused on supporting improvements across the four main Project objectives; Delivery, Quality, Cost and Safety (both product and personal).

You will be responsible for understanding and capturing latest industry innovations and best practices both within Bombardier worldwide and in outside industry. Converting such best practice into add value to the Project/Business.

In your role you will:

- Support the implementation and development of standardized assembly processes and practices that are balanced, reduce waste and improve the overall performance of the business using: Process Maps, Task Sequencing, Maintenance Optimization, introduction and leadership of Continuous Improvement / LEAN principles, development and generation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) information, such as drawing packs, SOP sheets and Safe systems of working that reflect reliable and safe assembly processes;
- Develop and Maintain KPI’s;
- Create and implement a plan to enable the creation of standardized processes that ensure smooth, uninterrupted assembly, improved product quality, and further reduce the burden on employees;
- Continuously aim for and promote improvements in productivity/efficiency of the maintenance processes through the installation and management of appropriate tools and processes to assess, improve and accurately monitor performance;
- Provide to the maintenance teams with support regarding the elimination of process waste utilizing dynamic problem solving techniques;
- Understand and capture latest industry innovations and best practices both within Bombardier worldwide and in outside industry;
- Develop and optimize assembly processes for current and new assembly regimes.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate:

- You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering plus formal training in Continuous Improvement / LEAN;
- You have three (3) years of relative experience including the ability to demonstrate achievements in process improvement (preferably in a manufacturing setting);
- You own excellent interpersonal skills required to maintain and develop positive relations with our business partners, customers, suppliers;
- You are highly motivated and a very hands-on person;
- You are familiar with manufacturing and assembly techniques;
- You are able to develop and implement formal and informal process improvements, develop and manage KPI’s associated with improvements against target;
- You are able to work independently;
- You should demonstrate a high degree of customer focus, safety and a high degree of urgency;
- You must show a very good level of judgment in complex situations;
- You have knowledge of Kaizen methodology;
- You own knowledge of MS Office, Windows;
- You have excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
