Will be part of a dynamic team of technical staff that will be accountable to meet a pre-defined set of technical measurement criteria for simulator performance (reporting metrics), ex down time, lost time, customer reliability etc.

 

Job Description Summary

 

Be prepared to work rotating shifts and weekends.
Carries out preventative maintenance tasks.
Carries out corrective maintenance tasks on electronic, electrical, computer, network and hydraulic equipment.
Investigates and recommends solutions for obsolete equipment.
Brief and debrief customers in a professional manner on a regular basis. May also be required to answer technical questions to airline customers.
Ensure that all technical information in the organization is propagated to coworkers.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

As part of the Technical Services group within Civil Training and Services, primarily perform all corrective and preventive maintenance on several flight simulators and training devices at the Aerospace Training Center.

Respond to customers' training needs in a courteous and timely manner in order to ensure that the required reliability and availability of all flight training equipment is met consistently.

Support and assist with the diagnosing, debugging and troubleshooting of both hardware and software problems originating from the flight training devices.

Learn and assist with corrective and preventative maintenance tasks, as well as several repair and laboratory projects.

Perform logistical/administrative duties as demanded by the position, including updating of technical documentation or logistical information.

Actively continue to pursue professional growth and training

 

 

Qualifications / Skills:

Technical College Diploma in progress (first year) in any technical field (eg: electronics, aerospace/aeronautics, programming or automation).

Previous experience using electronic test equipment and strong troubleshooting aptitude.

Familiarization with basic Electronic Theory and Principles and electronic testing equipment.

Familiarization and interest in the relationship between technical hardware and software interaction, and software manipulation aptitude (C++, Fortran, or any programming languages).

Ability to interpret system prints and schematics and operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).

Knowledge in analog and digital theory and computer/software literate (PC and / or computer mainframe/architecture).

Excellent customer focus and customer service skills and experience in handling technical problems, and analyzing and resolving them successfully.

Good attitude to perform individually as well as part of a dynamic technical team.

Strong desire to learn and apply his/her skills in the flight simulator environment in order to maintain and operate all relevant equipment.

Strong communication skills to propogate technical information within a team environment.

Required skills

Excellent knowledge of the English language, read, spoken and written.
Highly Customer oriented and must be able to deal tactfully in sensitive situations.
Understanding of aircraft terminology or simulation devices is preferred.
Ability to read electrical and electronic system diagrams.
Advanced computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of at least one of the following operating systems; Unix, Linux; Windows NT/XP; AIX.
Knowledge of software languages C and FORTRAN.

The centre operates 24/7, serving Air Canada, Jazz, and many other commercial aircraft operators.
